ABOUT

LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT CONNECTION

Our world has become one of complexity and uncertainty. As leaders, we can feel both worried about the unknown and energized by the possibilities this creates for people. In unpredictable times, no single leader has all the information they need to make agile decisions that drive performance.

Today’s most successful leaders:

  • tap into the human network, listening carefully to customers, suppliers, peers and teams, integrating diverse points of view
  • make constant course corrections based on what we learn
  • delegate decisions to where the action is
  • cut through the complexity by aligning people around a common purpose

LOOK BENEATH THE SURFACE

For all the complexity we can see, even more lies below the surface as mindsets, assumptions, thoughts and emotions. Most mental activity is unconscious — yet these thoughts and feelings drive every interpersonal situation. Looking beneath the surface, we gain insights about ourselves and others. Connecting with, and impacting people starts to feel like magic.

IF IT’S BENEATH THE SURFACE, HOW CAN WE SEE IT?

The method is simple. We identify what we want to change, then learn to see the unconscious through reflection, writing and dialogue. Our neural networks range from paths in the woods to superhighways, and through practice we can rewire our brains with intention. Using this method of Think-See-Change, I help leaders see beneath the surface to grow themselves and their teams, deepen alignment and create results.

Connections are made slowly, sometimes they grow underground.
You cannot tell always by looking what is happening.
More than half the tree is spread out in the soil under your feet.

ABOUT JOSH

I’m an executive coach, team coach, and organization consultant who first spent 20 years in professional services, working directly with clients at the intersection of technology and creativity. I helped build Sapient from 100 to 20 thousand people, and billions in revenue (and we were ultimately acquired). By 2007, I was a VP leading a portfolio of client accounts — we were growing the business, but I saw huge untapped human potential and wanted to understand what could unlock it. An engineer by training, I moved outside my rational world to explore behavioral psychology and adult development.

My career pivot has led me to the most satisfying work I have ever done – helping leaders create the kind of influence that leads to personal growth and results. I even went back to school to study Organization Development because I believe moving the needle on change means going beyond helping individual leaders, to influencing at the level of teams and cultures. Now I work with professional services, technology-based, and non-profit organizations to help them see the unseen and create results that matter.

Peoples’ insight moments are my psychic fuel. I feel energized when leaders see their environment in new ways so they can create a positive impact on people.

WHAT
PEOPLE
ARE SAYING

Through our work with Josh, our organization’s engagement has increased and our ability to work together to solve problems has substantially improved.  He has helped me develop my leaders and create a culture of candid feedback focused on growth.

Sears Merritt, Head of Enterprise Technology & Experience, MassMutual, Senior Manager Technology

Josh helped me gain a better understanding of the motivations beneath the surface of peoplesʼ actions, which helped us create a plan to alter behaviors and ultimately achieve our results.

Alan Wexler, SVP, Strategy & Innovation, General Motors

I was looking for someone who could help me unlock my potential by understanding me as a person first, and professional second.  Through the leadership development program, Josh was able to bring out the best in me by helping me see myself more clearly and be more aware of my strengths and potential.  He has a keen sense of observation about individuals, their body language and group dynamics. There is so much he can offer to help groups become teams – powerful, impactful teams that can be a force to reckon with.
